Investment Plan

Your mix comes first
Most investment advice starts with a fund. Ours starts with your mix: how much of your money belongs in equity, debt and gold, given your goals, your timeline and how much volatility you can live with. Once that is set, the fund choices follow.
Your investment plan is part of SahajMoney's fee-only financial plan, for a fixed ₹15,000 for the first year, including GST.
Who this is for
You invest through SIPs but are not sure your funds add up to a plan.
You hold many overlapping funds, built up over years of tips and new fund offers.
You have a lump sum to invest, from a bonus, a property sale or maturing deposits.
Most of your savings sit in FDs, EPF, PPF or insurance policies, and you want growth that keeps pace with inflation.
You are an NRI investing in India.
What your investment plan covers
Your asset allocation: an equity, debt and gold mix set from your goals and a proper risk-profile assessment, not a rule of thumb such as 100 minus your age.
Money matched to time: equity for goals years away; money for goals two to three years off moves into debt in steps, so it does not depend on where the market happens to be.
Specific funds and amounts: named mutual fund schemes, in direct plans, with the SIP or lump sum for each, and direct links.
What to do with what you hold: each existing investment, from mutual funds and shares to EPF, PPF, NPS, FDs and gold, marked keep, add to or exit, weighing capital gains tax and exit loads before any switch.
A rebalancing rule: when your mix drifts well away from target, how to bring it back, often by pointing new SIP money at the part that has fallen behind.
How we choose funds
For the core of an equity portfolio, we look for low-cost, diversified funds; costs and diversification largely decide what an investor keeps. Narrower ideas, such as sector or thematic funds, belong in a small slice if at all. International equity funds can be part of the mix where they suit you.
When we judge a fund, we look at rolling returns against its benchmark and category, how far it fell in downturns and what it costs to hold. Star ratings and one good year don't count for much.
What it costs and what is included
First year: ₹15,000 per couple, including GST. Your written plan within 2 weeks of approving the initial analysis, a review at 6 months, and email questions throughout the 12 months.
Renewal: ₹7,500 a year, including GST, with 2 reviews a year. Renewal is optional.
Not included: placing transactions, direct stock tips, crypto and PMS. We give advice; your money stays in your own accounts, on the platform you choose.
Should I stop my SIP when markets fall?
Usually not. Keeping SIPs going through downturns is what lets a portfolio benefit when prices recover. Pausing makes sense if you lose your income, not because markets are falling.
How many funds should I hold?
Usually fewer than people think. Several funds with the same holdings add complexity, not diversification.
Can you promise a return?
No one can. Equity funds are market-linked. A longer horizon improves the odds, but we plan on a range, not a figure.
Do you earn anything from the funds you suggest?
No. We recommend direct plans and are paid only by you, a fixed fee. No product pays us.
